My passion for film began when I was a child. At first my brother and I filmed just for fun with our mobile phones.
I was always interested in cinema. As I grew up I started to analyse how the movies are structured. Three or four years ago a friend told me that it's hard to get into a film school but I didn't get cold feet. I asked myself "Who if not me?". Since that moment everything I do has only one purpose - pass the exams next year for the film school.
I am learning film making from books, other experienced filmmakers and also from the films themselves. I watch a lot of movies.
My first film
My first movie, With the Spirit of the Times, was created two years ago. I made this movie with friends. The historical background was used to point up the current situation in Polish society with its lack of solidarity, by showing how the soldiers behaved during the 2nd World War.
I choose topics that interest me, that I would like to see in a movie. I want my movies to be interesting and thought provoking for viewers.
The Domino Effect
I heard about the massacre in 1999 in an American school in Columbine and began to think about what causes violence. I started to read about this and watch films on this subject. Then I wrote the script. I asked a few friends and professional actors from local theatres to help me and act in my movie. The hardest thing was to find locations to match what I wanted in my movie. It took me seven months to complete it. I was seventeen at the time.
Professional actors were very eager to help me. They treated me as if we were the same age. Sometimes they suggested some ideas or other solutions. The scene in the kitchen demonstrates the great cooperation with actors. It is exactly what I wanted.
What next?
Right now I'm working with a group of professional filmmakers. We make advertisements, music videos and short films. I am also collecting material and thoroughly researching the subject for my next film - medical Marijuana. I attend science conferences with oncologists and meet with sick people who are taking Cannabis. It's a forbidden subject in Poland and lots of people are suffering. In our society lots of people are very emotional about medical Marijuana.
In the future I want to study at the film school in Łódź - one of the best film schools in the world. And then I want to make feature films.
