BIAFF 2026 is now open
We are accepting entries from 1st September to 31st December 2025
Submit your film on FilmFreeway
We welcome films of any length and on any subject. Documentary? Animation? Drama? All are welcome. The only stipulation is that they must not have been made for commercial purposes, nor involve paid assistance from crew, performers, or post-production professionals. Full details can be found in our rules on FilmFreeway.
Selected films will be screened at the British International Amateur Film Festival, taking place from Saturday 23rd to Monday 25th May 2026 at the Crescent Theatre, Birmingham. Additional online screenings will run from Monday 18th to Friday 22nd May 2026.
In a feature unique to this festival, every accepted film will receive written feedback from our judging panel—an invaluable opportunity for filmmakers to learn and grow.
IAC members can enter for free until the Earlybird deadline of 5th November 2025, with discounted rates available thereafter. Not yet a member? The Institute of Amateur Cinematographers (IAC) is the UK’s only organisation dedicated to supporting amateur film.
